Thunder Works’
Pledge to Our Customers
Effective 1/1/08
By doing business with Thunder Works, you are agreeing to these policies. Make sure you know what our policies are and how they relate to you and your job.
Estimates
All our estimates are custom, to match each job's requirements. Due to this, our estimates are not quick, but they are thorough, and 99.99% of the time, they are RIGHT. We think the time taken is worth that alone.
There is no charge for the actual estimate, though charges may apply to disassemble, clean and magnaflux (as needed) customer-supplied core parts for estimating purposes. Those costs apply whether the estimate is accepted and the job proceeds, or if the estimate is refused and the supplied cores are picked up, at at which time payment is due to cover those labor costs incurred.
For small jobs (meaning individual machining operations and cylinder head-work, that also might involve cleaning and magnaflux'ing components), we strive to get estimates done in a few days up to a week.
For quotes on short-blocks or long-blocks, we target getting estimates done within 2 weeks, 3 weeks max. Again, that means tearing down, cleaning and inspecting components; and/or researching parts, current pricing and availability, etc. The upside to the time taken to do all this is that when we give an estimate, that's what that customer is going to pay at the job's finish, unless the customer changes things along the way.
Most times we hit those time-marks for estimates, but occasionally we don't. In those cases, if someone thinks we're not responding as well as we should to them, then maybe we're not the right shop to do their job, and maybe they're not the right customer for us. It's better to find out now versus later.
Given how much faster the world has started moving in the last few years, we know this isn't a popular viewpoint, but it's needed for us to do the best work we can for our customers.
We will take the time to do things right rather than having to do things over, especially when it's at the customer's expense (or ours). And by taking the time it takes, everyone gets "a more harmonious outcome."
Final Payment-in-full is due upon Job completion.
ii) We do not take Travelers'
Checks.
-------------------------------------
We will crate engines for shipping, for domestic or International delivery. Crates have pallet-bases as needed.
Crating for International shipment will meet ISPM 15 Regulations applying to the European Union, United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, and all affected areas.
There is a fee charged for crating, dependent upon the scope of the job, and the size of crate needed for proper handling and packaging.
Shipped engines will be assembled to the optimum, logical level, to prevent damage of loose parts during shipment (i.e., parts equaling a short-block will be assembled to that level; addition of heads, intake manifold, etc., will be assembled as a long-block). This assembly will be estimated and charged on the final invoice.
Shipping and insurance fees are the responsibility of the customer, as is the choice of carrier, arranging pickup by (or delivery to) the shipping company. For domestic delivery, we can make recommendations on freighting services if needed.
For International shipments, all duties, tariffs, etc., assessed by the proper authorities are the responsibility of the customer.
